School uniforms: I'm not exactly sure why they are enforced and why some schools don't have them. Individuality? Pride for the school?
I understand Christian schools like to have modest clothing, but does it really have to be so UNCOMFORTABLE? Sitting here, i feel like I'm silently choking to death in this too-tight button up shirt and tie as well as the itchy, ill-fitting jumper. Teachers here often joke that they actually want to see our faces a shade of blue, just so they know our ties are on properly. That can't be legal.
Heres the problem:
. Uniforms need to still display modesty (although the year 7s have taken to hiking their skirts up to the underline of their bra in order to keep it short)
. Students should be able to display so,me form of flexibility. This is proving unlikely especially in both the girls summer and winter uniform. Girls cant raise their hands in class unless they are willing to risk their fellow classmates getting a good look at their upper thighs (but if their shorter than the regulations - which is the case for most of us- they risk undie flashing!)
. Sports uniforms should be designed to compete. Not make us look like potato sacks. Fabrics should be chosen for quality, not whats going to get pit-stain fastest.
. Saftey.
. Bathers can be way to revealing. Especially when the design chosen was inspired by the 80s circa Baywatch. Its actually uncomfortable to think about it. Designs should be chosen for speed sure, but if none of the swimmers feel comfortable going out to compete, whats the point?
So here's my solutions:
. Keep the cute schoolgirl style. I like it, but let loose on the ties. Literally. Let the ties hang casually. I'm not saying lets make it look like we cant even tie our ties, but lets not have the top button done up. It runs the risky of the students suddenly dying off one-by-one due to suffication.
. Lets make it so that there are two button up shirts to choose from. Keep the boxy one for the boys and give the girls a shirt with pleats that flatter and fit our figure. Like this. pleats under the.... chest region
